Victor D. Jones is a native of Columbia, South Carolina, and received a Bachelor of Science, Major, Computer Science from South Carolina State University in 1985. Victor received his Master of Business Administration in 2007 specializing in large system processes and Project Management. Victor is a certified Project Manager Professional (PMP) and is a licensed SC. Unlimited General Contractor. He is a (regular member, member at large, life member of the South Carolina State University National Alumni Association and SCSU Military Alumni Chapter of Orangeburg, SC.
Victor is an Associate Board Member for South Carolina State University Athletics State Club and from 1981 to 1984 Victor was a student scholarship athlete on the Track and Field team where during his tenure the SCSU track team won the MEAC Championship during the 1982, 1983 and 1984 school years.
Victor served his country as US Army Officer after being commissioned out of the South Carolina ROTC Program. After his military term of 8 Years, Victor entered the civilian work force serving in several key positions throughout his career:
- Sr. Account Executive Honeywell Inc. servicing Accounts Like: Toyota Motor Corp, Phillip Morris, Schering Plough Maybelline and Proctor and Gamble
- Sr. Director of Projects Johnson Controls Inc. where he directed grass root operations of Hospitals, Colleges and Universities and Government Buildings in the Southeast Regions
- President and Sr. Principle at Unity Construction Inc. General Contractors.
Since 2013 Unity Construction has performed construction services on a number high profile facilities such as: National Observatory, Washington, DC., Embassy of Korea, Washington, DC., The Embassy of Nigeria and The National Harbor Conference Center, National Harbor, MB.
Unity Construction Inc. continues to perform construction project services of both commercial and residential projects throughout North and South Carolina.
Victor is currently employed by Dollar General Inc. where he serves as the Director of Construction for the Southeast Region of the United States.
Victor has a few hobbies which he enjoys during his time away from work includes: Private Pilot (Flying), Fishing, Gardening, Golfing and Volunteer work at SCSU.
Victor has served in several capacities at SCSU where he successfully assisted with; Stellar Calendar Committee, SCSUMAC membership, Fundraising Chairman for the Annual Golf Tournament and Basketball homecoming concessions where the funds are used to support SCSU ROTC cadets and students with scholarships and endowment contributions.
Army Colonel (Retired) Lentfort Mitchell Sr. is a native of Wando, South Carolina. Since 2018, he has served as the founder and Chief Operating Officer for Canopy Consulting Group LLC. As of Jun 2025, currently serving as the Vice President of Unity Construction.
In 1982, he graduated from Cainhoy High School and attended South Carolina State University (SCSU) in Orangeburg, S.C. In May of 1986, he was a SC State University ROTC Distinguished Military Graduated and received a BS Degree in Industrial Technology.
Colonel (Retired) Mitchell’s nearly 30-year Army career included assignments at Fort Benning, Georgia, the 2nd Infantry Division, Korea, the 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, NC, two tours with the 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) Fort Bragg, NC. His sequential duty included a variety of special operations, joint, and command assignments throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia, the Pacific, and the Middle East. His operational assignments included three combat tours: Desert Storm and Shield and the Global War on Terrorism. In 2013, COL(R) Mitchell was inducted into the South Carolina State University ROTC Hall of Fame.
His education includes a Master of Science in Security Management from Webster University and a Master of Science in Strategy Studies from the Army War College in Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania.
His professional and civic organizations include: Life-time member of the SCSU National Alumni Association, the National Military Honor Society of Pershing Rifles, Life-time member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Masonic Lodge-Oklahoma District. COL (R) Mitchell is a former two-term President of the SCSU Military Chapter, current Board Member of the SCSU State Club, current member and past two-term chapter president of the Fayetteville/Fort Bragg SCSU Alumni Chapter, and the current Men’s Ministry Leader of the Holy Rock Community Church in Wando, S.C.
His military qualifications include: Combat Infantryman Badge (2nd award) and the Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Master Parachutist, Air Assault, Spanish Language qualified, Army Ranger and Army Special Forces qualifications. He is a graduate of the Infantry Basic and Advance Courses, Command and General Staff College, the former School of the Americas at Fort Benning, Georgia, the Joint Professional Military Education Course, National Defense University, Norfolk, Virginia, the Army Inspector General Course, and the U.S. Army War College.
Colonel (Retired) Mitchell has numerous Army, Joint service, and wartime decorations. He is married to the former Cheryl J Smith of Manning, SC. They have three adult children: son-Lentfort Jr. of Houston, TX, daughter-Logan of Charlotte, NC, and son-Jordan, a graduate student at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC.
